ET SESSION 1 Professional Assumptions that Prohibit Collaboration Dr. Palatta; Tyler Reimschisel, MD, MHPE, Founding Associate Provost, Office of Interprofessional and Interdisciplinary Education and Research, Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic Learning Objectives: • Examine common assumptions about power and influence in the health professions • Discuss how professional identity is formed and reinforced in both the educational and practice cultures • Develop strategies to help students challenge common assumptions and improve communication across professions 9:45 - 10:00 A.M. ET SESSION 2 Building Team Skills to Overcome Professional Identity and Cultural Barriers to Collaborative Practice Dr. Reimschisel Learning Objectives: • Differentiate what is transferable in interprofessional education (IPE) to collaborative practice (CP) and what is not • Discuss team skills essential to CP • Plan how to apply a model of team building that will transfer from IPE to CP 11:45 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.
