In October 2020, the fifth cycle of the award launched with support from the PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation for the Advancement of Public Health (COF) and renamed the IPEC/COF Excellence in IPE Collaboration Award to reflect this important collaboration. For the award criteria, deadline, and additional submission details, see below. The Excellence in IPE Collaboration Award presents an opportunity to showcase multidisciplinary efforts to impact community health. This Award is presented to a team of health-professional school based collaborators (faculty, administrators, and/or students) who have innovatively addressed a public health issue while making a lasting impact on the community’s health. In addition to including team members representing multiple professions, the proposed project should aim to establish a relationship between interprofessional practice and outcomes (community practice, public health education, and/or research). This award will consist of an overall winning team who will receive their award from IPEC and COF at the Annual Summer IPEC Meeting in Washington, DC. Additionally, the winner(s) will present an IPEC webinar discussing their project and findings. There will also be one (1) honorable mention in each of five (5) focus areas. What is the nomination and selection process?The Award Committee is looking for submissions that represent the full spectrum of IPEC member institutions, including nominations from small schools and private schools. All nominations will be reviewed by a joint IPEC/COF Award Review Committee and approved by COF and the IPEC Board of Directors. Award nominations from each school must be submitted through a Health Professional School Dean, include representation by two or more health professions, and demonstrate a clear relationship between interprofessional practice, outcomes, and impact. In addition to including team members representing multiple professions, the project should demonstrate relationship between interprofessional practice and outcomes. Projects previously submitted which did not receive awards are eligible for re-entry, though new nominations must be submitted. How do I submit an application?Applicants must submit a (1) signed checklist; (2) coversheet with brief project description; (3) two-page narrative (including detailed documentation of impact); (4) abbreviated Principal Investigator (PI) CV (6 pages or less); (5) outline of collaborator roles; and (6) letter of dean support. Applicants may include optional supplementary materials, such as pictures, a slide presentation (12 slides or less), and/or video short. Presentation of Award
Each year, IPEC and COF will announce the winners of the Excellence in IPE Collaboration Award at the Annual Summer IPEC Meeting in Washington, D.C. The principal investigators of the program receiving the award will be recognized at the Summer Meeting and highlighted in IPEC press releases. as well as on the IPEC and COF websites. A plaque will be provided to the award winners. Certificates will be given to the honorable mention finalists.
